Use-8 penny galvanized nails. To install your roof brackets. Do not push them in to hard you will need to remove them later. Now take a pieces of your new roofing shingle one tab will do. Slide it under the bottom side of the roof bracket to protect the roof shingles under it.

Step-1 Picture-two
Buy or cut a plank. Use a 2x8 or 2x10. You want the plank to fit into your roof brackets nice and snug. If using only two roof jacks. to be on the safe side use one jack for every three feet. Trying to move the roof jack uphill. As you beat the roof jack uphill, the diagonal slots come into play. The roof jack moves uphill, as the diagonal slots slide along the three nails. When you've driven the roof jack uphill about 1.5", the nails are no longer in those diagonal slots. The roof jack is freed. Now the roof jack just slides downhill and the three nails are left in place under the roof shingle. Now you just use hammer remove the nails put a little roof salient in the holes press the roof shekel down you are finish.
